- I always thought it had to do with getting older: You have to go to another room to get something and when you get into the other room, you forgot what you were looking for. Usually its momentary..The real reason is that when we move from one location to another, yes even just a room, we have to adjust to the new surroundings. Our mental focus moves away from the reason we are there and goes to adjusting first. (Also explains why many people don’t like to talk or listen when they first wake up: they are adjusting to waking up). Once we have adjusted, our mental focus is ready for the why we are here. This is an important fact when showing a buyer a home. To be most effective, allow your client a few moments when they enter the home or a different room to adjust before you start to point out the highlights of the home or room. The Influencer understands that timing is key. This slight adjustment will allow you to be more effective.
